Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
In the morning, depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, a journey that takes approximately two to three hours. Upon arrival, explore the park, known for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Spend the afternoon on a game drive, searching for lions, giraffes, and other animals that roam the vast landscapes. As the sun sets, head to your lodge or tented camp for an evening of relaxation and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Tarangire to Central Serengeti
After an early breakfast, leave Tarangire and embark on a long but scenic drive to Central Serengeti, which takes around five to six hours. Enjoy a picnic lunch along the way, then continue toward the heart of the Serengeti, where the vast plains stretch endlessly. In the afternoon, embark on game drives to witness Serengeti’s renowned wildlife, including prides of lions, cheetahs, and leopards lurking in the savannah. Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in the evening.
Day 3: Central Serengeti to North Serengeti
Start the day with a morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours when predators are most active. After breakfast, depart for North Serengeti, a journey of approximately five to six hours. This region is particularly famous for its seasonal wildebeest migration and dramatic river crossings. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the Mara River area, keeping an eye out for crocodiles, hippos, and herds of migrating wildlife. Settle in for the evening at your lodge or camp.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drives in North Serengeti
Spend the entire day exploring North Serengeti, where wildlife sightings are exceptional, particularly during the Great Migration. Traverse the expansive grasslands and riverbanks, watching for herds of wildebeest, zebras, and their predators lurking nearby. Enjoy breaks in between game drives to take in the peaceful surroundings before returning to camp in the evening.
Day 5: Full Day Game Drives in North Serengeti
Another full day in North Serengeti offers the chance to explore different parts of the region, maximizing opportunities to witness thrilling wildlife action. Drive along the river to spot animals gathering to drink, watch elephants moving through the woodlands, and search for leopards resting in the trees. The day ends with another relaxing evening in camp.
Day 6: North Serengeti to Central Serengeti
Begin with a morning game drive in North Serengeti before heading back toward Central Serengeti. The journey takes about five to six hours, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife along the way. Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore new areas of the region. As the day winds down, settle in for the night at your lodge or camp.
Day 7: Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro/Karatu
Start with an early morning game drive in Central Serengeti before having breakfast. Depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a journey of approximately four to five hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a quiet afternoon at your lodge or explore Karatu town, known for its lush coffee plantations and beautiful landscapes.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Tour & Return to Arusha
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a five-hour game drive, where you have the chance to spot an incredible variety of wildlife, including the rare black rhino. Explore the crater floor, home to lakes, forests, and open plains, offering a rich and diverse ecosystem. After a picnic lunch, begin the journey back to Arusha, a drive of approximately four to five hours, marking the end of the safari.
